Knitted Heart Pattern

A simple one piece knitted heart which can be made in 4ply or double knit yarn and is ready for embellishment, hanging up or just as a squishy pocket filling gift for a friend or loved one.

Difficulty

Knitted from the point up on double pointed needles in a continuous round the heart is then split off into two further rounds to create the top. All knitted in the knit stitch with increasing and decreasing into stitches to create the shape with Kitchener stitch used to bind off.

Yarn and Notions

Either:

4ply yarn (fingering) approximately 10g or 35 to 40 meters / 38 to 44 yards

2.5mm double pointed needles

OR

Double knitting yarn (light worsted / 8 ply) approximately 10g or 25 to 30 meters / 27 to 33 yards

3.25mm double pointed needles

Stitch marker to mark start of round and darning or tapestry needle

Scrap piece of yarn to hold stitches

Small amount of safety stuffing, a handful

Measurements

The 4ply heart measures 8cm by 8cm / 3 inches by 3 inches

The double knit heart measures 11cm by 11cm / 4.5 by 4.5 inches
