Checkmate Sock Pattern
A simple checker pattern works down the outside of each leg and onto the foot of these top down socks.
Knitted top down in the round using knit and purl stitches, knitting stitches together to decrease and picking up stitches along an edge. Kitchener stitch to close toe.
Yarn and notions
Fingering or sock weight yarn 60 to 80 grams (I used 70 grams for a size 7)
Set of five 2.5mm double pointed needles
Two stitch markers (optional but helpful)
If you decide to knit these on a small circular needle you will also need an additional three stitch markers to mark the stitch count for each needle
Small – 7.5 inches – 56 stitches
Medium – 8.5 inches – 64 stitches
Large – 9.5 inches – 72 stitches
This pattern is free, but you can always buy me a coffee to keep the creativity buzzing.
