My daughter ddeveloped a new obsession with Dr Who. I'm not quite sure where it's come from but I suppose it sits well alongside her Marvel and anime obsessions. So there was little surprise when at the end of November 2022 she asked if I could crochet her a Tardis blanket to fit her single bed for Christmas. I mean, of course, who needs months of planning and making, four weeks is more than enough time! I did also have a blanket for my brother in law to make, a few pairs of socks, a pair of slippers and gloves also to make but hey, what else do I have to do!

Difficulty

Instructions are provided in US terminology. You will need to chain, slip stitch and double crochet in the corner to corner method. The graph for this pattern can be used in any stitch but you will need to do a swatch to work out how big your blanket will be, yarn quantities will also alter.

Yarn and Notions

Double knitting yarn (light worsted / 8 ply). I have used Stylecraft Special Double Knit which is a 100g ball of 295 meters / 323 yards in the following quantities:

5 balls of Lapis (main colour)

2 balls of French Navy (outline and highlight colour)

2 balls of Soft Grey (background colour)

           1 ball White

           1 ball Black

3.5mm (US E/4) hook

Tapestry needle

Optional: ruler to mark where you are in the pattern, pen to mark off which diagonal you have just completed, bobbins to wind off smaller quantities of yarn

Measurements

The finished blanket measures 75cm wide by 150cm long / 30 inches wide by 60 inches long
